Looking back to 2014, new home construction in St. Joseph County had slowed to a crawl due to the lingering effects of the Great Recession—only 150 homes were built that year. Fast forward to today, and that number has nearly doubled, signaling a strong rebound. However, even with this increase, we still have more buyers than available homes, creating a competitive market for anyone looking to move.

  • Notre Dame’s Downtown South Bend Tech and Talent Hub, supported by a $30 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, will drive innovation and economic growth, further increasing demand for housing in the area.


Other major tech companies, including
Google and Meta, are also expanding their presence in Indiana with large-scale data centers, bringing more high-paying jobs to the region.
